The Nature of the PRE-ED Programme
Responding to the new challenges our student teachers will face in the professional arena and to the multiplicity of tasks and responsibilities that they will be expected to deal with as language teachers in the Greek educational context and in line with the goals of European language teacher education, at the Faculty of English Language and Literature, University of Athens, we have made conscious attempts throughout the past few years to restructure the aims, content and learning experiences, modes of delivery and assessment of our PRE-ED programme. The PRE-ED programme took its present form in 1994 but the PEDYAS project provided an opportunity for reform and innovations to this programme. On the basis of internal evaluation, new actions are introduced each academic year with the intention of providing our students with the knowledge and training they need to meet new educational and professional demands in the field of TEFL.
